The Delian Academy for New Music was founded in 2017 and organized its first program in the summer of the same year. The Academy focuses on delivering high-quality educational programs, as well as research and artistic events with an international perspective. The Delian Academy is a registered civil non-profit company in Greece.
Our Story
The roots of the Delian Academy for New Music go back to July 2016, when Alexandros Spyrou met Georges Aperghis at the Darmstadt Summer Course and discussed, among others, the idea of a summer course for contemporary composition in Greece. Alexandros had long dreamt about an international music Academy in the relaxed environment of the Cyclades and immediately started working on the project. With generous support and guidance by Georges Aperghis, the first international summer academy was organized on the island of Mykonos in June 2017.
